Personalised management of cancer predisposition across the patient journey (CPS-Compass)

Implementation of personalised cancer medicine requires healthcare systems to better identify cancer predisposition syndromes (CPS), throughout the patient journey. This includes testing and access to expert genetic counselling at every stage—prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and follow-up care.

This pilot will test the implementation of CAN.HEAL recommendations with a focus on children and adolescents (CAYA), who have a higher risk of CPS.

The pilot will focus on:

• Test a “genetics-first” approach in young patients, looking at how feasible it is, the satisfaction rate, and the costs.
• Strengthening the role of genetic expertise in national cancer guidelines and reimbursement systems.
• Addressing workforce challenges: Expand and support the role of genetic counsellors.

Overall, the aim is to make genetic testing and counselling for inherited cancer risk a routine, fair, and effective part of cancer care across Europe.
