Roads to developing and implementing personalised prevention of cancers

This task will gather data on initiatives on personalised prevention. The data will be gathered via literature reviews and surveys within EU initiative representatives and research on project sites. The Data will focus on four areas: past, ongoing and planned cancer risk reduction efforts; evidence and TRL of major developments for personalised prevention in the next decade; ) healthcare organisation needs for efficient personalised prevention; and pilot initiatives of personalised prevention in funded projects.

This task will analyse the preparedness of the European Commission to implement risk-based personalised prevention methods. It will research how aligned the EU member states are when it comes to implementing personalised prevention, and focus on up-scaling and capacity building.

Define the minimum requirements for personalised prevention (PP) in the EU by reaching agreement on key aspects such as the level of evidence needed, clinical benefit, impact, cost-effectiveness, and ethical and access considerations.

Evaluate the added value of multidisciplinary advisory boards in supporting decisions and providing genetic counselling for early detection and prevention, based on individual risk levels.

To capitalize on a network of expert centres to run clinical trials focused on early cancer intervention.

Define what is needed to set up collaborative platforms that bring together expertise and share best practices for diagnosing and managing precancer across Europe.

Review existing data sources and assess whether new databases are needed.

Establish the minimum requirements for developing and evaluating digital tools that improve communication between patients, community healthcare providers, and specialists.
