Supranational molecular tumour boards for complex cases (MTB)
Molecular Tumor Boards are the basis of PCM that allows multidisciplinary discussions to support decisions in personalised management. This pilot will create a supranational Molecular Tumor Board, including a dedicated pediatric component, to improve access to both standard treatments and new therapy options, especially for patients with rare or complex cancers. It also aims to reduce differences in access to care between regions.
Key goals include developing legal and operational frameworks, establishing a network of pilot centres with a roadmap for onboarding other institutions, and establishing guidelines for submission and prioritisation. The pilot will work in alignment with existing European initiatives. Its impact will be measured through clinical results, education, and research outcomes, with particular attention to countries and regions that currently have little or no access to MTBs. The overall aim is to promote fair access to personalised cancer care and ensure the network can continue beyond the duration of the project.
