Implementation readiness for polygenic risk scores in screening practice (PRS)
This pilot aims to advance the readiness of polygenic risk scores (PRS) for daily clinical practice. Polygenic Risk Scores are already starting to be implemented in medical decision-making tools and personalised screening advice. However, a common implementation protocol is still needed. To address this, this pilot will develop a common protocol by collecting experiences from high-readiness institutes that already have strong experience using polygenic risk scores. It will then test its feasibility by conducting small pilots studies across high- and medium-readiness JA PCM partners. The final protocol will be made openly available and is expected to support faster and wider adoption of PRS in routine clinical care. This activity will focus on the use of the PRS-313 integrated in CanRisk for breast cancer risk protection, and evaluate the implementation of this approach in routine clinical genetic testing for relatives of breast cancer patients in at-risk families.
